Firm Profile

The firm of Capon & Hubert commenced on 1 July 1986 as a result of the amalgamation of the practices known as Wilcox & Capon (formerly of Pearce, ACT) and William G Pierce (formerly of Canberra City).  The original partners, Geoff Capon and Ken Hubert have remained the principals of the firm to the present time and remain located in the South Woden area of Canberra (at Mawson).
 

Ken Hubert

Ken practises primarily in the contentious areas involving Civil law, Family Law and some Criminal Law. He has served in the past on Law Society and Law Council access to justice committees and undertakes legal aid work along with paying private work. He has practised in most legal tribunals and been a representative for children in care and custody matters in the Family Court for a number of years. Ken does not shy away from a challenge and as such has managed many difficult cases.

Ken graduated from Australian National University in 1981. He has a family with 4 children, and lives in the in the Tuggeranong area. He has been a Canberra resident since 1971 and has great affection for the region.


David Nimmo

David has been practising law since 1989 after a career in the Parliamentary Service. He has an extensive family law, criminal and children’s practice. In 1999 he was awarded the National Children’s and Youth Centre’s ACT Children’s Lawyer of the Year Award in recognition of his work with Canberra youth.

To further his expertise David undertook the specialisation course in Family Law run by the NSW Law Society and is a recognised Family Law Specialist in NSW.

David is married with four children and has been living in Canberra since 1974. He is actively involved in a number of community Organisations and is a well know Basketball referee.
David is also a reserve legal officer in the Australian Army and welcomes work from Defence personnel.


Geoff Capon

Geoff Capon handles the non-litigation side of the practice.  This involves conveyancing, commercial, probate, wills, and estate planning.

Geoff qualified to practice law in 1971 and has been a member of the Canberra legal profession since 1974.  He has been self-employed since 1985.  He has wide experience in the non-litigious areas of legal practice and has served on the Wills and Probate Committee of the ACT Law Society.

Geoff is married with four grown children.  He has also been involved in a number of community groups.


The principals are practising Christians and are keen to work with the wider Christian community and other people in accessing and assisting pastoral contacts that clients may have or benefit from.
